International digital agency Dept has announced the launch of its own Metaverse practice, which it says enables brands to redefine the way they interact with consumers. The Metaverse practice brings together around a hundred crypto, blockchain and game developers, 3D artists, virtual and augmented reality experts and software engineers who have created innovative AR/VR, Web3 and Metaverse experiences for clients.
Dept says it is currently working with several global fashion, entertainment and commerce brands and will be launching a series of new projects in the coming weeks, ranging from immersive experiences to NFT marketplaces.
“Last year, we were able to acquire a great experience of Web3 technologies in order to support our customers in the realization of unique digital experiences. It gives brands the ability to create fully immersive 3D worlds from scratch and transform the customer experience into a whole new reality,” said Max Pinas, Executive Creative Director at Dept, in the release: “With our dedicated Metaverse, we are able to bridge the gap between CMO and CTO. We see it as a creative opportunity comparable to the very first websites – we are at the dawn of a new digital era.”
Yann Wanner, Head of New Business and Web3 contact at Dept Switzerland, adds: “As pioneers in tech and marketing, we help brands to always be one step ahead. So that this is also the case in the world of Web3, we plan to open a work hub in the Crypto Valley of Zug soon, in order to be even closer to the industry and to customers and partners in the future. . »
Over the past 12 months, Dept – which it says is a frontrunner in Web3 innovation – has introduced a number of firsts to the market:
- March 2022: In collaboration with Vogue Business, Yahoo and Journee, Dept will organize a Metaverse experience in a “unique immersive virtual world”

- September 2021: Together with Journee, Dept organized the first Meta Festival, bringing over 4,000 people to visit the hybrid world of Metapolis
- May 2021: Tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world gathered at the Eurovision Village 2021 created by Dept during the Eurovision Song Contest Rotterdam 2021.
Based on the knowledge gained from these projects, Dept grouped the expertise of its more than 2,500 employees into teams and assembled a global team of experienced specialists in its Metaverse practice. Dept’s Metaverse practice includes expertise in blockchain technology, decentralized applications, augmented reality, immersive experiences, cryptocurrencies and data, and creative marketing power.
According to the release, Dept also announced that it will host what it says will be the first global 24-hour event in the Metaverse on June 28, 2022. The largest Meta Festival to date aims to connect all parts of the world. The event will bring together forward-thinking innovators, technologies, brands and people in a virtual venue called Metapolis, and will provide attendees with hundreds of talks, music, workshops and more. In Switzerland, Dept organizes a large Web3 event in advance. (pd/hour)
